Hawaii’s Population Increases, Greater Need For Honolulu Rail

Pacific Business News reported today that the population of Hawaii is almost 1.3 million, according to new state-by-state estimates for 2009 released Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

“The state’s population grew 0.6 percent, the equivalent of 7,697 residents, between July 1, 2008, and July 1, 2009, the bureau reported. Its population is now 1,295,178, up from 1,287,481 in 2008 and 1,276,832 in 2007,” the report said.

...That’s also more commuting and driving all over Oahu to get where they need to go.  The evidence for a public, elevated rail mass transit is right there in the numbers.

The official Honolulu Rail for Growth website has also been updated today to more prominently feature this blog and the twitter account. Click the image and have a look!
