Press Release: HRFG Team to Present Job Opportunities in Rail

HONOLULU, HI – Executives from the Honolulu Rail for Growth (HRFG) team will host a meeting to discuss opportunities for Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) to get involved with their proposal for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project’s Automated Train Operating System.

“We’re looking forward to meeting the local talent who may be able to participate on this project,” said Gino Antoniello, Vice President of Transportation Systems and Equipment, for Sumitomo Corporation of America. Honolulu Rail for Growth (HRFG) is a team led by Sumitomo Corporation of America (SCOA) and includes partners, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of America, Inc. (MHIA), KinkiSharyo International, LLC (KI), Thales Transport & Security, Inc. and Wasa Electrical Services, Inc.

The meeting will provide information and insights on the Honolulu Rail Transit Project in the areas of Project Management, Vehicle Assembly Works, Electrical, Construction and many others. “There will be significant job opportunities created throughout the life of this rail project and we look forward to sharing this information at the meeting,” said Antoniello. The Honolulu Rail Transit Project, according to Mayor Mufi Hannemann, is expected to create 4,000 jobs directly from the rail project alone in 2010.

Qualified DBEs & SBEs interested in learning more about the project and possible business opportunities are cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Pupus and light refreshments will be provided.
