Feds Approve Airport Detour, Project in Environmental Approval Stage

Last night, Hawaii News Now’s Hollu Juscen reported, “It’s full steam ahead for the $5.2 billion rail project. The city got the thumbs up from federal transportation officials, approving the airport layout route change.”

The city’s re-route of the rail track to avoid the airport runway has been approved by the Federal Transportation Administration and now the project moves into the Environmental Impact Approval Stage.

“That’s a big step,” said Wayne Yoshioka of the Hawaii Department of Transportation (pictured).
